HM Steyn City Residence II

Steyn City Residence II occupies the same estate as Residence I but represents a larger, more programmatically complex brief. The design introduces a bold material statement at the street — a full-height glass garage door that blurs the boundary between arrival and display, flanked by dark timber louvres that regulate light and provide privacy to the living spaces above.

The defining architectural moment is the rear garden elevation — a cantilevered slab extends over the lap pool terrace, creating a covered outdoor living room that connects directly to the interior through full-width sliding glass. The pool runs the length of the garden, framed by a bonsai and careful landscaping that gives the composition a considered, unhurried quality.

The double-volume three-car garage is treated as an architectural space in its own right — glazed on all sides, it reads as a pavilion within the site rather than a utility volume.
